Whitney Stoebner, President
Hello! Our family moved to Houston from Washington, DC in 2014 to be closer to my husband’s family. We quickly felt at home at Harvard Elementary. This is my fifth year on the Board, and I’ve previously served as VP Community Building and Continuity Advisor. My daughter Ellie is in 5th grade, and my son Henry is in 3rd grade. Our family enjoys hiking and camping, especially in west Texas. We are often accompanied on adventures by our canine companions. I also enjoy baking, Jazzercise, and watercolors. I am excited for another great year at Harvard Elementary!

I love to be involved and make Harvard the very best school for all of our children.
Stacy Upchurch, VP Fundraising
My name is Stacy Upchurch and I am excited to serve as the VP of Fundraising. This is my second year on the board and this will be my third year assisting with the Spring Fundraiser. Thank you all so much for making it such an amazing event in the past! I moved to the Heights in 2007 and have loved every minute. I cherish the diversity, sense of community, and pride of this unique neighborhood. Currently I work in sourcing for a large oil and gas company. My oldest child, Kade, is in the 3rd grade while my youngest, Mila, is in 1st. Both have attended Harvard since Pre-K. As a family, we enjoy participating in youth sports, supporting our local sports teams, and waking around the neighborhood. I enjoy being involved in Harvard’s PTA and look forward to another successful year!
Nikou McCarra, VP Communications
Hi! I am Nikou McCarra (pronounced knee-coo), your VP for Communications for the Harvard PTA. I have worked in marketing and design for over 15 years and I am obsessed with all things design-related. My life in a nutshell: I moved from Iran to Canada to USA when I was younger, went to high school in Katy, attended college at UT Austin, moved to Houston, attended grad school at UH where I met my husband, Travis, adopted our dog, had two boys, and finally settled in the Heights. Travis is a realtor, our oldest son, Kian, is in first grade, and little brother, Zayn, will start kinder at Harvard next year. And Wi-Fi (our 10-year-old ShihTzu) will continue to do nothing. I enjoy watching silly rom-coms, walking around our neighborhood, and eating tacos. :)
Lisa Riley, Secretary
Hi! My name is Lisa Riley and I am the Secretary for the Harvard PTA. It’s my second year on the board. I also volunteer in the library and help chair the annual Auction Fundraiser Galas. Thank you for making our galas such big successes for Harvard!
I grew up in Clear Lake, a suburb of Houston. After graduating from Texas A&M (whoop!), I had an 11 year career as an engineer at NASA-JSC training astronauts on the computer and navigation systems on the Space Shuttle. I am now a SAHM to Cameron (2nd grade), Allison (3), and our dog, Maggie. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, traveling, yoga, shopping, and graphic design. Our family loves being a part of the Harvard Community!
Veronica Presas, Volunteer Coordinator
Shannon Hunter, Parent Representative, PK/K Grade
My spouse, Ernest II, and I are both Aggies (Whoop!) and our kids are soccer enthusiasts. Thus, in the fall you can find out us either on the sidelines at TSA, cheering on the Aggies, or possibly both simultaneously! We have a son, Ernest III, who was in Ms. Vargas’ PK class year and is now thriving (virtually) with Ms. Lesniak in Kindergarten. We also have a daughter, Shelby, who is a fourth grader at another Heights-area school.
I am a native Houstonian and a product of HISD – I know firsthand that with parent partnership, our district provides a first-class, college preparatory education to its students. Harvard is an excellent example of an engaged, forward-thinking, and vibrant learning community. I am excited to do my small part through the PTA to help sustain it!
Heather Whitfield, Parent Representative, 1st Grade
HI! My name is Heather Whitfield and I am excited to be your First Grade Representative for the Harvard PTA. This is my second year on the board, with a year gap last year where I worked on the school fundraiser. I am so thankful for our PTA and our supportive community. I grew up in Houston, in all different parts of the city. After graduating from the University of Houston Law Center in 2007, I met my husband and we settled down in Houston, where I worked as an attorney for 13 years. I recently became a stay at home mom to Kate (first grade) and Evan (2). I love running around our neighborhood, hanging out with friends, starting crafts I never finish, and sailing out on Galveston Bay.
