Help us get Harvard Elementary a working A/C!
Harvard Community! You guys know how to show up and rally (AGAIN)…
[Note: The PTA is unable to provide any infrastructure for the school due to HISD rules]
The A/C has been an ongoing issue for years, and the PTA has tried to help where it could, including an email campaign last year, which helped. In March of 2023, HISD concluded that Harvard’s A/C “control system for our main building is a very old, outdated program, which has been giving us the inconsistency in extreme hot/cold temperatures . . . There is nothing wrong with the hardware on equipment of them system and the South Wing chiller has been completely repaired.” The issue “is the software/programming that needs an update, but that is around $200K for a building our size.” “We are working on getting Harvard on the list for the next bond and HVAC control grant.”
For the remainder of the school year last year, HISD had maintenance workers checking the temperatures in the classrooms, and it seemed to be working.
However. The issues are back, and worse this year.
How can you help?
